After the dust settled from a tough loss, the SMHS Varsity football team goes into this week’s practice licking its wounds and trying to recover after the program’s 4th straight loss this season. It didn’t help that it was Homecoming and both the players and the crowd were looking for their first win of the season.
After the game, head coach John Walsh gathered the team and hung his head as he stated “I have never started 0-4 in my career”.
This past week’s game against Laredo Alexander was intense, exciting, and close with plenty of drama to go around for everyone.
The energy from the student section was intense and the players played a physical game demonstrated by Coach Walsh but in the end, it wasn’t enough. The final score was 31-24 and SMHS is looking to pick up momentum and change directions in week 5 against Eagle Pass who they lost to last year.
On another note Volleyball, Tennies, and Cross Country are all in season as well and we ask you to come and support them and show your Rattler pride. Volleyball has been doing great and will have a game on Friday there at SMHS and both JV and Varsity will be playing. The players and Coaches are looking to get their 15th win this season and get a good start on district play. Tennis also has a tournament on Friday against district opponent New Braunfels.
And that’s all for the weekly Rattler sports news and we thank you for checking in and supporting amazing athletes here at SMHS. Rattler Up Baby!
