Every Valentine’s Day the only person who gets me a gift is my mother, and the worst part is she always claims the gift is from a “secret admirer.” News flash: it’s not.
I hate Valentine’s Day. I have been single my whole 17 years of living.
I have gone through unbelievable circumstances because I was so desperate for a man. I used to chase boys around the playground at recess, now I resort to stalking their Instagram. Trust me it’s totally normal. However, every attempt I made always failed. They didn’t fail because of me though. No, they failed because of how deceiving men can be. As much as I love to look at them they ruin it once they open their mouth. I immediately get the ick from a man saying the littlest thing. Sometimes I wonder why I haven’t resorted to liking women at this point.
The funny thing is they get worse the older they get. Isn’t it supposed to be the opposite? I want a relationship, don’t get me wrong, but with the way boys have been acting this generation, I am on the verge of going on strike. A strike against talking to boys in general.
Another thing that irks me is how they only focus on looks. If I had a dollar for everytime I got unadded after I sent a picture of myself, I would be a millionaire. I may not be a Victoria ‘s Secret model, but I’m not awful. I mean I’m hilarious, and…uhm. So I’ve got some redeeming qualities. What I’m trying to say is looks aren’t everything.
I’m also trying to say who cares about having a Valentine. The only things you need is your T.V. and ice cream. Oh, another great thing to be thankful for on Valentine’s Day is your friends and family. Out of all the years you’ve been alone I bet your best friends and parents got you Valentine’s gifts. I know mine have. Focus on those people. Who cares about a stupid relationship.
All of you single people out there have fun on Valentines and don’t make yourself miserable. Make fun of all the cringey couples you see, go out with your friends, or even sit at home and have a day for yourself.
Valentine’s Day has been twisted into being only a “couples holiday”. Screw that! Valentine’s Day is a day for love of all kinds. So stop with all the awkward talking stages, and stalk your crush. Instead focus that love into different people.
Turn hating Valentine’s Day into loving it. Go get a family member or friend a gift and stop obsessing over being single. Trust me; it makes Valentine’s Day 10 times better.

I think there is collusion & cooperation between St. Valentine and Hallmark.
