With Baseball just right around the corner, I think it’s time to talk about the amazing and highly successful Rattler baseball program and its leader/head coach Bryan Webb who has done a great job over these last few seasons.
Last year, the baseball program made it to regional playoffs and narrowly lost to Lake Travis in a close three-game series. This year, expectations are high for our boys, and with plenty of new, and old, faces on the team, how does Coach Webb plan to meet these expectations?
Coach Webb, baseball head coach of 20 years, has a phenomenal coaching record of over 400 wins and is looking to reach that 500th win very soon. He is an amazing coach who runs a tight ship but also cares and develops his players for whatever futures they may want.
Newcomers to the team this season included Charlie Helgeson, Cole Wiatrek, Caleb Gomez, and Ronnie Mendez. These players are playmakers and will definitely assist the team in reaching its goal of making a deep playoff run.
Although coach Webb is bringing in new faces for his varsity team that does not mean his playing philosophy has changed. Coach Webb has a heavy defense-first approach to the game and is very meticulous in how this player runs his defensive schemes.
And with returning vets such as Kutter-Gage Webb (Texas St baseball commit), Dylan Nunez (Hendrix University baseball commit), and Reagan Chomel (West Texas College commit), the Rattlers possess much-needed experience and leadership that the rest of the team will feed off of and learn from. With Coach Webb’s philosophy and his players’ amazing skills, this team has the right tools to be a successful program that will be a hopeful playoff contender.
Rattler fans are excited to see what the season has in store for our boys and they will be rooting for them as they stand on the edge of their seats. Pre-season kicks off this week, so let’s fill the stands and start off the season with a bang.
