I interviewed Band member Maebry Kraatz, one of the Bass drums on our fantastic Battery, and a Freshman here at San Marcos High School. Since beginning her Freshmen year about 3 months ago, Maebry has partaken in state competitions every Saturday, along with the rest of the band, and the halftime performances every Friday at Football games – that is a lot of performing.

¨Before we perform I usually get a little nervous, but once I’m on my dot about to perform, I just tell myself I got this! Then I do it!¨

Before performing, we all get a little nervous. As long as you give what you got while you’ve got it, your performance, regardless of your mess-ups, was a good one! Maebry has been in band for 4 years now, and I’m sure taking on Battery this year has brought on a lot of challenges, but also a lot of new connections. 

‘From middle school to now my love for band has grown immensely! To me, band has always been my favorite class, it has my favorite teachers, and my favorite people! I love Drumline so much! We are all so close and I always enjoy hanging out with everyone!’

 

The best friendships always manifest in the environment you love being in the most.
